Ola S1Z Launched From Rs. 79,999 In India, Gets Up To 301 Km Range

Ola Electric has officially added the S1Z to its lineup, offering a more affordable entry point into the world of electric scooters. The company introduced this model as its new entry-level scooter range, positioning it as the first application of the company’s Bharat Cell LFP technology in its mass-market products. Offered in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh configurations, the S1Z carries introductory prices of Rs. 79,999 and Rs. 99,999 (ex-showroom) respectively. The larger battery variant claims up to 301 km of IDC range while the 3.1 kWh version delivers up to 179 km.

Entry-Level Pricing and Battery Specs

The new scooter range extends the manufacturer’s locally developed battery technology to a significantly lower price point. The S1Z utilizes this technology from the 46-series LFP cell platform, which is developed at the Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory.

Vertical integration allows Ola greater control over one of the costliest components of an electric vehicle, helping to lower battery costs. This strategic move ensures the firm maintains quality standards while reducing expenses.

Software, Features, and Launch Plans

LFP chemistry also offers characteristics like enhanced safety and longer service life, enabling the company to target the value-based end of the electric two-wheeler market. Both variants ride on 12-inch wheels and share many features, with battery capacity determining their claimed range.

By keeping battery development in-house, the manufacturer attempts to remove the variable costs often associated with third-party supply chains. If the efficiency gains from the internal Gigafactory translate to the final retail price, competitors might reconsider their own manufacturing models to remain competitive in the mass market.

The software package comes from MoveOS 5 as the S1Z gains many connected and rider-based functions. Equipment includes cruise control, regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS, and over-the-air software updates.

Other highlights include geo-fencing, time fencing, mode fencing, ride statistics, and energy insights through the dedicated app. These digital tools aim to enhance the overall riding experience by keeping the vehicle connected and updated.

The scooter also gets Easy Park, which simplifies maneuvering into tight parking spaces through a wrist-controlled system. The manufacturer offers the S1Z in White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue, and Matcha Green colour schemes.

Customer deliveries of the smaller battery version are scheduled to start in December 2026, followed by the 5.1 kWh model in March 2027. Ola Electric introduces the S1Z through the next stage of its retail expansion.

The range will be among the first products to reach consumers through dealer-operated stores, adding a new retail channel alongside the existing network. This strategy is intended to increase access to products across India as the company expands its physical sales footprint.
