Maruti Suzuki has a busy product cycle ahead as the company prepares multiple new models and updates across different segments in India. Over the next year and a half, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer is expected to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, introduce new Bioflex applications and refresh established nameplates. Development work has already progressed on many of these products while test prototypes have appeared on Indian roads.
Electric MPV Arrives as Brand’s Flagship EV
The most significant new model will be the electric MPV internally known as YMC. Maruti Suzuki is expected to position it as a three-row family vehicle and spy images show a tall MPV with upright proportions and a relatively long wheelbase while the overall length is expected to remain close to 4.5 metres.
The YMC may also share its electric architecture with the e Vitara and could offer over 500 km claimed driving range. That would put it among the longer-range options available in the Indian market when it eventually launches.

Maruti has typically focused on affordable, mass-market vehicles, so positioning an electric MPV as a flagship product represents a notable shift in strategy. The company recently introduced the WagonR Bioflex and its plans indicate that ethanol-compatible fuel will reach additional products. More affordable Maruti Suzuki models could receive Bioflex powertrains as development work progresses.
The company appears to be hedging its bets across multiple fuel technologies rather than committing fully to any single powertrain type. This approach makes sense given India’s varied fuel infrastructure and consumer preferences that differ sharply between urban and rural markets.
Baleno Receives Substantial Mid-Cycle Refresh
The Baleno is set for a substantial update on September 5, 2026. The premium hatchback has maintained impressive demand throughout and prototypes indicate revisions to the exterior and cabin. The facelift is expected to gain the Swift’s 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine while a CNG version should also join the range.
The CNG version could offer a five-speed manual alongside an AMT. The cabin is expected to receive revised upholstery and a new dual-tone colour theme while ventilated front seats and ADAS could be part of the package as well.

Its sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx may also receive a similar mid-cycle update sometime next year. Camouflaged test vehicles indicate styling revisions at the front and rear while the equipment list could gain several new features.
ADAS is also expected to feature on the updated Fronx as in the international model. Maruti Suzuki could also bring in an in-house developed affordable strong hybrid powertrain into the mix in the near future.
The Baleno update represents one of the more significant refreshes in Maruti’s portfolio, bringing technology and powertrain options that have been absent from the nameplate since its launch.
